this is ironic |
i read my horoscope every day on-line, here is todays:
Cancer June 21 - July 21 Today you and the other members of your household might discuss the possibility of making some changes, dear Cancer. This might involve some redecorating or remodeling, or even something as mundane as a thorough cleaning. However, it could also involve the possibility of making a move to a different place. The need for cge in youhanr surroundings is apparent, so don't hesitate. Initiate the first steps!
i find this ironic since i had planned to start packing up my office today; i am moving friday from the house into an actual office building. |

now to the leftovers |
thanksgiving was good but very quiet. kathryn came over in the late morning, baked her wonderful apple pie from scratch, i roasted the turkey, a friend of mine from my old office came over and joined us in stuffing ourselves. after a large dinner and two pies for dessert, kath and i retreated to the couch to moan a little. around 8:30 that night, my sweetie showed up which literally made my day.
tonight, my sweetie, kath and her sweetie will be here to help get rid of the leftovers via turkey pot pies! |

counting my blessings |
so this thursday is thanksgiving. it is so hard to believe that it is almost the end of the year already. most of us get so busy during the year that we either don't have the time or don't take the time to count our blessings, so i thought i would do it now. these are just some of the many things i am thankful for:
1) kathryn 2) my health 3) my job/profession 4) my home 5) my other daughters (amy, jenny, lisa, annie) 6) my remaining family (small as it may be) 7) my friends 8) my dogs 9) life in general
what are you thankful for? |

enough already people! |
when i was a kid we never saw any christmas decorations in stores or on homes until the day after thanksgiving, let alone did we see any commercials on tv. it seems as if every fews years i am starting to see this stuff earlier and earlier as if someone could actually forget about christmas.
this year, about two or three weeks before halloween i was seeing commercials on tv with santa. a week or so later, but still prior to halloween, i was seeing the crap in stores. well last night was the topper, i saw a ton of houses fully decked out with christmas lights! what next, easter in january? independance day in march? |

securities license, is it worth it? |
being a licensed insurance agent i also have a license to sell certain security products. now having this license means that i can offer my clients things like mutual funds, ira's, variable universal life insurance policies. it also means that if i ever do just one thing wrong i could land my ass in prison.
in order to help me stay out of prison, the company that i represent has management inspect my files every six months and someone from the home office comes out every two years to do the same. i am also subject to state officials just walking in to perform an inspection with absolutely no notice.
my management team came out yesterday to perform their six month inspection of my files. they were in and out in about 1 1/2 hours (thank god) since i constantly maintain/update all of my files. i knew that there would not be any problem but i was still nervous and i lost 1 1/2 hours of work time out of a busy monday after a three day weekend!
all in all, yes it is worth all of the hassle to have a securities license because i can offer my clients more. |

it's great to have health insurance |
a couple of days ago my two boys, banjo and dude, were playing together and started to get a little rough. i just knew that one of them was going to end up getting hurt and so i did my best to break them apart. a few minutes later, sure enough, banjo started yipping at the top of his lungs and didn't stop for about four minutes. then just stood in the middle of the floor looking pitiful and holding up his right front paw. when i tried to pick him up he started yipping again i knew he was injured so to the phone i went. i called the vet's office only to be told that the vet we usually see was "already gone but will be back in the morning". i told the girl on the phone that i needed to see a vet NOW! so out to the car and over to the vet's office we went where i was greeted with a, "we are really surprised that you would come in when dr goldman isn't here, we know how you are about the boys". We ended up seeing a new lady vet, very nice, seemed knowledgable enough, took her time examining the "right elbow and wrist". $96 later banjo and i walked out with a pain shot, bottle of prescription meds for pain and a diagnosis of "severe sprain right front leg".
today i went over to pick up banjo's twice a day bladder medication and got away cheep, only $18.00.
i tell ya it's just like taking little kids to the doctor except that i have to pay the full bill up front and wait for reimbursement from their health insurance company. it's definately worth it though! |

i love our mayor |
politicians have always gotten a bad rap and rightfully so since most of them do nothing but lie. the mayor of las vegas is what i would call a true gem and i absolutely love him. infact if he ever decided to run for a higher office i would back him all the way! this story is about something he said a few days ago, he was a bit rough but only trying to make a point. in the mean time on last nights news there was a story about how the mayor had bombay gin give the $100k he had earned to a downtown facility for the aged. this is the second time that he has earned $100k from the bombay gin company and then had it given away to help the people of las vegas. oscar, you are the bomb! |
