happy birthday |
twenty eight years ago today i brought into this world an 8lb 10 oz chubby little girl with a head full of black hair. this little wonder was the only baby in the nursery who could actually hold her head up and managed to weigh 2oz more before we left the hospital two days later! now while that sounds lovely, it must be noted that she was one week late and that i suffered through 42 hours of labor. however, i forgot all about the long horrid labor as soon as i saw her little face and counted all of her toes and fingers.
sometimes kathryn's childhood seems like a blur to me. i don't know if it's because i worked all of her life or because i am just getting older and have problems with my memory! all i know is that i was blessed on that beautiful day back in 1978. happy birthday sweetheart, i love you. |

young teenagers are funny too |
so i have blogged about my girlfriend melody's little girl, well she also has two boys. the oldest, tyler, recently turned 13. he went to school the other day to register for classes and a lady asked him if he would like to take a class where they make things for the children at child haven. well, tyler being the great kid that he is just said yes and never asked any questions. it tuns out that he registered for a quilting class! when melody told him that he wanted out immediately. my response was that he will probably be the only guy in the class and therefor be surrounded by cute girls. so what's so bad about that? |

meet the friends |
last night was the night that i was to meet one of my sweeties oldest and best friends. i looked great and felt great other than being a nervous wreck! i called kath because i knew she could calm me down and get me to stop pacing the floor while i was at home waiting to be picked up for our dinner date. kath reminded me that i was meeting the friends not the family and that the evening would go fine if i would just calm down. well, it worked! as soon as he walked in the front door and gave me his smile of approval i was myself again. we met up with his friends bob and chuck (they came in from cali together) at fellini's in sam's town. my sweetie and bob have been friends for just over thirty years, in fact bob credits my honey for saving his life about twenty years ago (long story here that i won't go into). anyway, dinner went well until bob looked at me and asked, "so do you two live together". Once I got done choking, I answered his question, all my jp did was sit there and smile. all in all the evening was a tremendous success and both bob and chuck gave their "nods of approval". |

i wish i was a kid again |
i am getting so excited because chrissy (the 5 year old daughter of my friend melody) is coming to spend the night at my house in 1 1/2 weeks. so, in getting ready for her stay i have been planning our agenda: dinner at bob's big boy, swimming, manicure and pedicure, movies and coloring, and then french toast sticks for breakfast saturday morning.
this morning on the way to work i stopped at walmart and picked up crayons and three coloring/activity books. this is why i wish i was a kid again: when i was little the "big box" of crayons had 64, the one i bought today has 96!!!!!!!!!! i can hardly wait to break them out and start coloring :) |

little kids are funny |
my girlfriend's 5 year old daughter saw a video e-mail that i sent out and started hollering at the monitor, "hi aunt dede", when i didn't answer her she told her mother, "aunt dede must be out of town". well i dropped by friday my girlfriend's house friday afternoon and here came that same sweet faced 5 year old to tell me that she had seen me in her mom's computer! now how cute is that!
this afternoon i get to spend some time with this little one and her brothers at "nana's house". i can't hardly wait, i just love being around the kids. |

the things we do for others |
last week i had a client call and invite me to a "presentation". since she is what i would call a good client, i agreed to go. so, last night i headed to BFE (way north las vegas) for this presentation that was to begin promptly at 7 (my client even asked that i be to her home a few minutes early and i was). promptly at 7:15 the presentation started and did not end unil 8:30. the whole thing was about a "$475 seminar" that teaches you to be less stressed and put yourself first. ok, i can attempt to do that without paying some schmuck $475 of my hard earned money! i say attempt because i spend too damned much time trying to make other people happy with my presence! now go away so i can put myself first and de-stress. |

it's back to work for me |
got back from the mini vacation yesterday. while mesquite is a very small town in the middle of the desert with very little to do i still did not want to come home. i can't remember the last time i was soooooo relaxed! the spa had a mineral pool so after the massage was over out tracy and i went to soak up too much sun and relax a little more. the pool was only three feet deep with lots of places to sit and a beautiful waterfall. no chlorine just minerals so no dry skin, no children allowed, just peace and quite. AWESOME!!!
btw, got a call from kath last night, her and j are having a blast in maui! |

did i hear "vacation" ? |
well i dropped kath and j at the airport so they will be on their way to maui shortly. i offered to go with them (in a suitcase of course) but they said no; even after i promised to not get in their way! so instead of maui, i will be leaving sunday for a couple of sun filled days in beautiful (?) downtown mesquite. i am taking the dogs to a pet hotel run by my vet, i went over a few days ago to check out the digs and they are actually pretty nice. i just wish that i could have gotten the boys a suite (private room with cot and tv) since this will be their first time away from home without me. i am sure that they will survive this better than i will and then just act like little wild men when i pick them up tuesday afternoon. have a great weekend everyone :) |

kids; they grow up so fast |
i never feel my age until i look at kath; it just seems as though she grew up overnight. i find it amazing that the older she gets the more she is "becoming the parental figure". in april when i wasn't feeling well, she took over the "mom role" and did a damn good job. now that she is leaving on a very over due and well earned vacation she played mom again. yesterday she informed me that if i needed anything (i know she meant if i get sick, etc) that i was to call lisa (she gave me two phone numbers and told me to put them in my cell phone) so that lisa could come in from cali to take care of me! the thing is, i know that lisa would come in if necessary. a few years ago i had surgery and lisa showed up at the hospital with a card and a goodie bag full of socks and magazines! lisa is "my other daughter" just like amy and jenny. yep, that's right, i am the luckiest mom in the world....four great daughters and only one pregnancy!!! |

it's true and i admit it, i am stupid. i just drove a total of 35 miles to have a client sign two pieces of paper and collect a check so that i could make a whopping total of $33.95 (payable over the next 12 months no less). ugh |
