future technology? |
tonight i am going to a meeting with a former associate of mine to find out more about video e-mail. apparently this is "THE THING OF THE FUTURE" and there may be a bit of money to be made by selling video e-mail accounts. who knows? what have i got to lose other than an hour or so of my time? this could be the greatest thing for me since spell check since i am such a lousy typist!!! who know what may come next...video blogging? |

what a weekend |
friday night a bunch of "ladies" came over to the house for what kathryn calls an adult tupperware party. the party started at 7, people started arriving at 6:30, the last invitee left after 10, and karen who is the rep from partygals did not leave until almost 11! i honestly don't know when i laughed and giggled so much nor got so much of an education in one night. thanks melody for wanting to have the party in the first place it was a blast.
i spent saturday running errands and resting because early sunday morning melody and her three kids picked me up and we went out to gilcrease farms to pick some fruit and veggies. i have always heard about this place but have never gone out there for one reason or another. you actually drive through the orchard and then just pull over and pick what ever happens to be growing (corn, squash, eggplant, tomatoes, pumpkins, watermelon) and then pay for it all just before driving out. it was awesome; i loved it as much as the kids! it's a great experience for city folk and the price is definately right.
so today, it was back to the grind with one exception....i took time out to make reservations for my friend tracy and myself to run away to mesquite for a few days next month. I can hardly wait; two days out of the office and a massage. i am excited about this because i have not had a "vacation" in ten, that's right, ten years. i have gotten away to go on business 4 times, take care of an ailing family member numerous times, 1 funeral and a one day trip for a wedding shower. of course i will end up paying dearly when i return! |

from the yuck file again |
by now everyone knows how i feel about taylor hicks; i can't stand to look at him and i don't like hearing him. so, is it not enough that his ads for ford are on the radio and on tv? on my work to work this morning i saw a billboard with him on it. all i can say is, "thank God billboards can't sing and dance"! sorry amy |

now i'm getting smart |
with the price of gas nearing the $3 mark again i was trying to come up with some ways to save on gas when all of a sudden lightning struck; work from home one day a week. since i already bought a new laptop all i really needed was a printer and a scanner. $90 at office max gets you a hp printer/scanner/copier. what to do on friday night? set it all up and try to decide which day next week not to drive to work!!!! |

i'm on top of the world! |
i just got back from seeing my primary care physician and i couldn't be happier! at the beginning of the year when i was first diagnosed as a diabetic, my A1C level (fancy name for a specialized sugar level) was 11, the norm is 6. i was put on 2 medications, one of which was a dual med so it was like taking 3 meds. i was also told to test at least three times a day. well...according to my latest blood work, my A1C is now below 6!!!!! my dual med is being replaced by a single med (so now i only have two) and i only have to test twice a day.....YAHOO!!!!! |

b-day recap |
now that i have recovered from a very long and exhausting birthday celebration, i will run a quick recap. saturday night: my girl friend tracy and i went to the salt lick for dinner; it was good but in my mind nothing to write home about. afterward we went down to new york new york to the apple bar and listened to a great band. i got home early sunday morning only to find that my pantry had been taken over by ants. sunday night: my sweetie showed up with a gift certificate for a massage, facial and pedicure from here and then took me here for dinner, it was delish! i even got sung to over the phone by my sweeties twin brother. monday: the day of my actual birthday started out with multiple phone calls, e-cards and im's with well wishes and more singing; thanks everyone. at 10:30 (thank God i am the boss!) i left the office to meet a couple of girl friends for brunch at marie callendars(more cards and gifts). in the ealy evening, kathryn came to pick me up and off we went to sweet tomatoes for dinner. afterwards to the wynn for second row seating and a shower at le reve. this was THE GREATEST show EVER!!!!!! i think i sat through the whole show with my mouth wide open in pure amazement. i just kept thinking that jason (my daughter's boyfriend) is absolutely brilliant because he designs the machinery that makes these people fly through the air, pop out of the water, etc. i was so wrapped up in the show that i did not want it to end and when it did i think that i rambled all of the way home. i absolutely loved the clowns and i will always remember the bald men in red rubber caps and the asian man sitting in front of us who kept lifting his towel up to keep from getting wet! the entire show was just so beautiful and amazing, it is definately a must see. thank you kathryn and everyone who made turning 49 so much fun, i love you all. and to jason, you are my hero! |

holiday weekend, what did an old lady do? |
so as i posted last week, i had a lot planned for my long four day weekend. this is what actually got done:
1) took my sweetie out friday night to celebrate his b-day. we both enjoyed the evening, as for the restaurant (the melting pot), i don't have enough thumbs! the food was absolutely fabulous.
2) the dogs got groomed on saturday. this was easy for me, all i had to do was write the check!
3) monday, took the oldest dog to the vet for his shots and to get a bottle of "doggie valium" to calm him during the fire works.
the rest of the four days was spent sleeping and watching tv with my two favorite little guys. |
