were you called as many times as i was in the week or two prior to the caucus? i got to the point where i did not answer my phone and seriously thought about getting rid of it. now i have done this; not a guarantee but hopefully it will help. |

personal and confidential |
to the woman who stole my recycle bins today, yes it was a woman because a neighbor saw her put them in her trunk, may you rot in hell. you are probably the same bitch that stole my last set. fyi, all you have to do is call republic services at 399-1112 and they will bring you a full set (red, white and blue) free of charge. oh, by the way do you want the matching blue bin too?
and for anyone who reads this and thinks wtf? i named this blog dede's rant and rave for a reason. |

that's how many more days we suffer until the usa's major error is gone (bush leaves office). the good news is that three kennedy's are now backing obama. it's amazing that obama is now being compared to jfk, when i compared the two of them months ago; i must have esp or maybe just some common sense. |

finally some good news |
i took banjo back to the vet today for his latest two week blood pressure check and blood work. the good news is that his bp is down to 155, not great but way better than the 200 two weeks ago. his blood work was good which means that his kidneys are not being effected by the new medication. even better news...we don't have to go back until july!!!!! |

weekend at the movies |
last night jerome and i went to see mad money with queen latifah, diane keaton and katie holmes. i only wish i had a third thumb, the writers were brilliant, katie holmes was fabulous as a not so brite, ready to dance blue collar worker, and diane keaton, who is far from one of my favorites, was funnier than all hell. i have yet to see any movie with the queen that i have not enjoyed.
this morning i went on a girl double date with kathryn, her friend lisa and bert (lisa's mom). we went to see 27 dresses starring katherine heigl, who is one of my favorites. this was a laugh out loud, feel sad, all around great chick flick and heigl did a great job as the "always a bridesmaid". another three thumbs up! of course, the girls then followed that up with a great lunch at mimi's. it was a wonderful way to spend my saturday and there is still tonight to go.
tomorrow, finally my netflix, the devil wears prada. |

further in the red |
i just saw this and it has me seeing red. especially the part about..." Workers who make at least $3,000 but don’t pay taxes would get $300 rebates." so here is my question...what the hell is this country coming to? we are already experiencing the largest deficit in history and now this. why on earth should anyone who does not pay taxes get a tax rebate? and how wonderful that the government has decided to reward those with children (no offense mel). in essense, a mother could work part time for a few months and then stay at home collecting welfare with her 6 ot 7 kids and get back a bundle. I WANT MY OVARIES BACK!
here's another thought...just how much do you think will actually be spent by each family? my thought is that as bad as the economy is most people will use the rebate to pay their bills.
by the way, i hope everyone knows that you will be taxed on any and all rebates and therefore will be experiencing double taxation (unless you make $3,000 a year or less and don't pay taxes to being with). |

laugh of the day |
over the past two or three weeks i have been getting calls at work from people with ameican names and foreign accents telling me that they are with embarq and that my monthly rate is going to be lowered (one of the callers had to ask how many phone lines i had and where my office was...a light went off in my head). after getting totally disgusted early last week, i called embarq and i was informed that they do not make calls like that and that i should ask the next caller for their phone number so that i could get back to them and then call embarq to report the caller.
now for the funny part......this mornings call was from kenny rogers! i guess i should have asked him to sing a line or two of the gambler or lady but i didn't think of it in time. i did tell him that i did not have the time to talk and asked for his number so that i could return his call. what did i get? a phone number that is not in service. surprise. |

caucus? |
yes i went yesterday but failed to blog until today due to the never ending pain in my right wrist. so i talked to kath after the caucus and just read her blog along with lisa's. my location was much more like lisa's; we were treated and counted like children, there were arguments, no one knew what the hell they were doing and yet there were so many know it alls and they all wanted to be the boss. all i can say is that i hope and pray for a primary in 2012. |

cried my eyes out |
on 12/29/07 kath blogged about p.s. i love you and how she cried all through the movie and even on the way home. so i really should have known better than to go and see this movie. i did know enough to take loads of kleenex and i needed them. about 10 or 15 minutes into the movie the water works began and so did my emotional rollercoaster; i cried, i laughed, i cried from laughing too hard. all around me you could hear sniffling and blowing, i don't think there was a dry eye in the place except for maybe the two men that had to sit through one of the best chick flicks i have ever seen. bottom line, the world needs to slow down, we need to enjoy our friends, family, loved ones because you just never know.
p.s. i seldom leave the house without make-up but did today, thank god. |

about the fight |
so last night jerome and i headed down to the orleans for a night of boxing. i have watched it on tv but truly never enjoyed it. this is just one sport that i have always seen as rather barbaric. i agreed to go because: 1)it was a title fight, 2) there would be one woman's bout (thought it might be fun to watch two women beating on each other), 3) his sister got him the tickets and 4) it was something new for us to do together.
the fights were due to start at 7pm, we got to the orleans at 6 and went here for dinner. the clam chowder was fabulous and the bowl was HUGE. after eating, we headed upstairs for the fights, our seats were ringside (in the second row). you could actually see the sweat falling off each of the boxers and the blood spraying across the air. the first three bouts, all men, were ok, but really no thrill since there were no knock outs. the following bout was the women and it actually had me screaming for more....IT WAS AWESOME. this is the woman that won the bout, come to find out, she is the wba light weight champion. the last bout was the heavyweight continental belt championship bout. these guys are so huge that you could literally hear every foot step they took and every punch they landed. i enjoyed it so mu8ch that we may be going back in march. |

best shopper EVER! |
yep, that's me, the best shopper EVER. a month or so ago i spent $93 and change at Office Max, took the item back and got a $107 credit, and i thought that was good. today was even better; this is what i bought:
1 pack (3 boxes) of standard staples $ 3.29 1 twin pack of HP black ink cartridges 35.99 3 reems of all in one paper ($6.79 each) 20.37
the above totalling $59.65, plus state tax (7.750) $4.62 for a grand total of $64.27
my actual total charge? $35.72 (almost a 50% discount) thanks to the paper being on a special promotion, a brown paper bag from last sunday's rj which gave me a 15% discount on everything that fit in the bag and a $15 reward card from office max themselves. YAHOO! |

extra time for the old folks |
i heard a small segment about this on the news last night and then found this article today. i REALLY loved this part: The over-50 exemption was created to give states more time to get everyone new licenses, and officials say the risk of someone in that age group being a terrorist, illegal immigrant or con artist is much less. By 2017, even those over 50 must have a REAL ID-compliant card to board a plane. it made me feel good to know that i have less of a chance of being a terrorist because of my age.
so here is my question: if the government is doing this to help keep our country safe because of 9/11, WHY THE HELL DID IT TAKE SO LONG? |

vet bills part 4 |
in the mail today was the first reimbursement for banjo's multitude of medical bills incurred in december. the company processed two days worth of charges totalling $467.15 of which $369.69 was deemed to be eligible and sent me a check for $287.72. not to bad since they do not pay to clean teeth, have limits on some procedures and do not pay for his food even though he does need a special diet because of his bladder stone history. and people laugh at me for having health insurance on my dogs. |

do you caucus? |
so the caucus is coming up in just over two weeks, saturday the 19th to be exact. this is history in nevada and i plan to be a part of it to help make sure that my candidate of choice gets what he deserves and what we as a nation need. if you want to learn about the process or see where to go to be a part of history you can go here and find out where the closest location to you is. if you are not a registered voter you can even do that the same day (provided you want to register as a democrat). For those of you with children, think about the great learning experience you can provide! |
