to celebrate and get our thoughts together, tim (christy's half brother and my cabin mate for the cruise) came over for dinner last night. tim is 48, tall and funnier than all hell, he has the BEST personality of any man that i have met in years. it was so nice to have someone to talk with while grilling not to mention someone to look at while eating (normally i watch the news). neither of us can wait to leave, this will be tim's first cruise and my fourth, i am just excited about getting away for a few days. we have already decided that we will spend our days by the pool and huge water slide and our evenings between the piano bar and the karaoke lounge.
Tim has been fighting non-hodgkins lymphoma for half of his life. he went through three sessions of chemo earlier this year because the tumors had returned. the 3rd session made him really sick(this had never happened before) but the tumors disappeared. now they are back again, he will go to the hospital tomorrow for a four hour course of heavy duty anti-biotics to help him attack the tumors and then see his doctor next week to talk about another possible course of treatment. tim is such a great guy and never throws a pity party, he just keeps going. i want to spend as much time as possible with him and really want this cruise to be something special for him. |
